Glenmorangie Bacalta Private Edition Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The Glenmorangie Bacalta Scotch Whisky is the eighth release in Glenmorangie's annual Private Edition series. Finished in casks that were seasoned with Malmsey Madeira, this is rich and fruity with notes of caramelized apricots, dates, almonds, and honeycomb. Bacalta is the first expression from the distillery which has been finished in sun-baked Malmsey Madeira casks. Dr. Bill Lumsden commissioned to have bespoke American oak casks crafted and heavily toasted, then seasoned with premium Malmsey wine - after which, they were left to bake in the heat of Madeira's sun. The casks were emptied and shipped to Scotland and used to finish this premium Glenmorangie whisky, a distillate that was first matured in ex-bourbon barrels. The Glenmorangie Bacalta Private Edition Malmsey Madeira Cask Matured Scotch was originally released in early 2017 and features complex aromatics and flavors vibrantly blended for a full and all-encompassing taste expression - perfectly quaffable to the very last sun-soaked drop!
